china ceramic tile factory direct | Contigo Ceramics

Why Buy Direct from a China Ceramic Tile Factory?

The same 600x600mm polished porcelain tile that sells for $18–$25 per square meter at US distributors costs $4.20–$5.80 FOB Foshan. That’s a factory-direct savings of 60–70%, before shipping and customs.

When you buy from a China ceramic tile factory like Contigo Ceramics, there is no importer, no distributor, no trading company adding 10–20%. You work directly with the production manager. If there’s a quality issue, you talk to the person who can solve it — not a middleman forwarding emails.

Factory Direct Comparison: A 600x600mm polished porcelain tile purchased from a US distributor costs $18–$25/m². The same tile FOB Foshan: $4.20–$5.80/m². Savings: 63–76%. Even after shipping (~$2–$3/m²) and duties (~3.7% for ceramic tiles under HTS 6908), your landed cost is still 50–60% below typical distributor pricing.

Factory Advantages of Sourcing Directly

Real FOB Prices – No Markup

Our pricing reflects actual production costs. No hidden fees. For example:

  • Glazed porcelain wall tile 300x600mm: $3.80–$5.20/m²
  • Polished porcelain floor tile 800x800mm: $4.50–$6.00/m²
  • Outdoor 20mm porcelain paver 600x600mm: $7.50–$9.80/m²

MOQ – One Container Is All You Need

A 20-foot container holds roughly 1,000–1,200 square meters of 9mm tile (around 800m² for 20mm pavers). That’s realistic for a single commercial project, a new home, or a small hotel renovation. We also offer mixed containers for established importers.

Quality That Matches International Standards

Our tiles are tested to ISO 10545 (all parts) and meet TCNA/ANSI A137.1 requirements. Key specifications:

  • Water absorption < 0.5% (ISO 10545-3) – true porcelain, not ceramic.
  • Breaking strength > 1,300 N for floor tiles (ISO 10545-4).
  • Frost resistance certified (ISO 10545-12) – safe for outdoor use in freezing climates.
  • DCOF ≥ 0.42 wet (ANSI A137.1-2022) for commercial slip resistance.

Every production batch is sampled at 2% rate. A QC report is sent before shipping. Third-party inspection (SGS or Bureau Veritas) is welcome at your cost.

Lead Time – 25 to 35 Days

Standard production takes 15–25 days for stock designs. Custom colors or sizes add 10 days. Shipping from Foshan to major US ports (Los Angeles, Houston, Savannah) takes 25–35 days. Total lead time: 50–70 days from deposit.

Shipping Reality – What Every Importer Should Know

Container Options

  • 20ft container (~1,000–1,200m² of 9mm tile)
  • 40ft container (~2,200–2,600m²)
  • High-cube 40ft – same area, but allows taller pallets for 20mm pavers

Transit Times to Major Destinations

  • US West Coast (LA, Long Beach): 25–30 days
  • US East Coast (Savannah, NY): 30–35 days
  • Europe (Rotterdam, Hamburg): 30–35 days
  • Middle East (Dubai, Jeddah): 20–25 days
  • Australia (Sydney, Melbourne): 20–25 days

FOB vs CIF – Which Is Better?

FOB (Free on Board): You pay the tile price plus loading. You arrange and pay ocean freight. This gives you full control — you can choose your own freight forwarder and negotiate rates.

CIF (Cost, Insurance, Freight): We quote you a delivered-to-port price. Handy for first-timers, but you lose flexibility on shipping costs. We can do either.

Customs Basics

Ceramic tiles enter the US under HTS 6908.90.0000 (glazed) or 6907.21.0000 (porcelain). Duty rate: 3.7% ad valorem. Additional tariffs may apply based on country of origin (China). Always check current tariff codes with your customs broker.

US imports of ceramic tile reached $3.2 billion in 2025, with China supplying 42% of volume — USITC Dataweb.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the MOQ for custom sizes or colors?

Standard stock designs require one container (20ft). Custom colors, sizes, or surface finishes require a minimum of 500–1,000m² per SKU, depending on the production setup. Lead time adds 10–14 days for color development. We’ll send you fired samples for approval before scaling.

2. How do you control shade variation across multiple containers?

We assign a production recipe code for each order. If you reorder the same tile within 6 months, we use the same glaze formulation and kiln profile to minimize shade drift. Every batch is tested for delta E ≤ 0.5 under standard D65 lighting. For large projects, we recommend ordering all material at once.

3. Can you provide test reports for specific ASTM or ISO standards?

Yes. Our in-house lab runs ISO 10545-3 (water absorption), ISO 10545-4 (breaking strength), ISO 10545-12 (frost resistance), and ASTM C1028 (DCOF slip resistance). We can provide a third-party report from SGS or TÜV at your request (cost varies by test). All reports show actual measured values, not just pass/fail.

Ready to Source Factory Direct?

When you work with Contigo Ceramics, you’re buying directly from a China ceramic tile factory that has been exporting since 2008. At our Foshan facility, we fire 150,000 m² of porcelain tile every month in our 1200°C roller kiln. Our daily output is over 5,000 m², and every pallet is checked for rectification tolerance (±0.5mm) before loading.

Stop paying distributor margins. Get the same quality at a fraction of the cost.

Request today’s proforma invoice for your project needs — specify tile type, quantity, and destination port.
